Maryland State Police (MSP) troopers stationed at the Forestville Barrack are continuing to investigate the multi-vehicle crash that occurred on U.S. Route 301 Sunday afternoon, Oct. 6.

The names of several motorists who were injured have been released by authorities. ย
Seth M. Nesbitt, 23 of Waldorf, the driver of a Mercury Marauder, was transported by MSP helicopter to Prince Georgeโs Hospital Center. His passenger is identified as Ian Z. Nesbitt, 17, also of Waldorf. He was also transported by MSP helicopter to Prince Georgeโs Hospital Center. ย ย ย
Franklin Kleinsorgen Jr., 69, of Mechanicsville, who was driving a Ford F-350, was transported by ambulance to Prince Georgeโs Hospital Center.
Laraya Edwards, 36, of Waldorf, was driving an Acura TL and was transported by ambulance to Southern Maryland Hospital. ย
Claude L. Jones Jr., 53, of North Beach, was driving a Dodge Dakota and was not transported.ย ย ย ย
The operator of a Chevrolet SSR is identified as Doris A. Edwards, 68, of Temple Hills. She was transported by ambulance to Southern Maryland Hospital. ย The passenger in the Chevrolet SSR is identified as Akeelah Edwards, 6, of Temple Hills. She was transported by ambulance to Southern Maryland Hospital. ย
The operator of a Ford Expedition is identified as Joseph W. Bazemore II, 37, of Bowie. ย He was transported by ambulance to Southern Maryland Hospital. The passengers in the Ford Expedition are identified as Leslie T. Colbert, 33, Traon D. Colbert, 6, Jayden J. Colbert, 3, and Andre J. Colbert 7. ย They were all transported by ambulance to Southern Maryland Hospital. ย
According to the MSP, the preliminary investigation indicates that around 2:30 p.m. ย Sunday, Oct. 6, a Mercury Marauder was northbound on Route 301 at Clymer Drive at what appeared to be a high rate of speed based on witness accounts. For reasons still under investigation, the Mercury crossed through the median on Rt. 301 an entered the fast lane of opposing traffic, where it struck a Ford F350 pickup head on. The collision caused a chain reaction crash involving four additional vehicles. Due to the severity of the crash and the extensive debris pattern, southbound Rt. 301 was closed for approximately six hours on Sunday. The Prince Georgeโs County Police Department and State Highway Administration personnel assisted with the road closure and detours. Investigators from Forestville Barrack along with members of the Maryland State Police CRASH Team are examining evidence as well as interviewing witnesses from the incident. ย The cause of the crash is still under investigation. ย
The MSP reports no charges have been placed at this time pending the results of the investigation. Police are asking anyone with any information in reference to this crash is asked to call the MSP Forestville Barrack at 301-568-8101.The investigation is continuing.
