The Calvert County Compensation Review Board is recommending pay raises for three elected positions, a memo from the panelโs chairman stated. The review board is recommending no pay increase for the county commissioners. The recommended pay increases, if they are approved, would not take effect until after the 2014 election and would remain in effect until December 2017.
According to review board chairman Robert Reed, the recommended salary increase for the sheriff is 4 percent, for an annual salary of $90,480. A 2 percent increase is recommended for the county treasurer, making the annual salary for that post $52,020.
The review board has proposed a $180 raise in annual salary for the chief judge of the Orphansโ Court, bringing the annual salary to $9,130. The other two Orphansโ Court judges are recommended for an annual boost of $175, bringing their annual salaries to $8,925.
โIn addition to the above recommendations, the [review] board unanimously voted for all [five] county commissioners to continue participation in the benefits program with a specific recommendation that they be permitted to participate in the County Savings Plan,โ Reed stated in his memo.
The county commissioners will consider the review boardโs recommendations during their Tuesday, Sept. 24 meeting.
