ST. MARY’S CITY, Md. — Whether you’re a nature enthusiast, history buff, or just looking for a day of family-friendly fun, RiverFest is ready to make a splash.

On Saturday, September 27, 2025, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., the St. Mary’s River Watershed Association will host the 18th annual RiverFest: A Celebration of the St. Mary’s River. The event is free and open to the public, rain or shine.

Set against the scenic shores of the river, RiverFest offers a full lineup of outdoor adventures, interactive exhibits, and live entertainment. Kids can get their faces painted, meet live animals up close, and take home balloon creations from local favorite Bryan Clapp. Adventurers can hit the water with free kayaking or try their hand at oyster tonging and seining demonstrations.

Local music takes center stage with performances from the Eastport Oyster Boys, while Raptor’s Eye returns with its popular birds of prey exhibit. Visitors can also enjoy food from El Coqui, explore local vendor booths, and tour tall ships docked at the waterfront.

A highlight of the day is the River Wade-In ceremony at 2 p.m., where guests are invited to step into the river and celebrate efforts to preserve water quality in the region.

Admission also includes free access to the Historic St. Mary’s City museum, giving attendees a chance to explore Maryland’s first colonial capital while enjoying the festivities.
