UPDATE Monday evening, Feb. 13

Prince Frederick, MD – The Calvert County Sheriff’s Office has confirmed that the woman who was struck and killed Saturday evening, Feb. 11 on Hallowing Point Road had been arrested approximately five hours before the accident occurred.

According to a sheriff’s office blotter report, at approximately 1 p.m,, Deputy T. Rzepkowski responded to the Walmart in Prince Frederick to investigate a shoplifting with a shoplifter in custody. He made contact with the security officer who stated he witnessed a female shopper remove tags from clothing, placing the items into a bag inside her cart and then push the cart past all check-out points.  The shoplifter, Brenda Hill, 51 of Aquasco, was escorted back to the security office where Rzepkowski made contact with her. All items were recovered and she took responsibility for her actions.  Hill was placed under arrest for theft less than $1,000.00 and transported to the Calvert County Detention Center on Stafford Road. A court docket summary indicated Hill had been released on her own recognizance.


UPDATE – Calvert County Sheriff’s Office release Sunday, Feb. 12 at 8 a.m.

Barstow, MD – On Feb. 11 at approximately 6:20 p.m., deputies from the Calvert County Sheriff’s Office responded to a fatal motor vehicle accident involving a pedestrian. The accident occurred on Hallowing Point Road in the area of Stafford Road.  The Preliminary investigation revealed the pedestrian, identified as Brenda Lee Hill, 52 of Aquasco, was walking on Stafford Road. Ms. Hill entered the West Bound lane of Hallowing Point Road and was struck by a 1994 Dodge Dakota, operated by a 28-year-old male from Prince Frederick. The driver of the truck was not injured and remained at the scene of the accident.   

This accident remains under investigation by the Calvert County Crash Reconstruction Team. There have been no charges filed at this time. Anyone with any information regarding this accident should call Dfc. J.M. Hardesty at 410-535-2800, or email at hardesje@co.cal.md.us.


Barstow, MD – At 9:53 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 11 the Calvert County Sheriff’s Office advised that Route 231/Stafford Road is now open.


Barstow, MD – Calvert County authorities confirm a woman was struck and killed by a motor vehicle at the Hallowing Point Road (Route 231)/Stafford Road intersection Saturday evening, Feb. 11. The incident occurred at approximately 6:30 p.m. The motorist involved in the incident was initially detained for possible intoxication, Captain David Payne of the Calvert County Sheriff’s Office told TheBayNet.com. Payne reported shortly after 9 p.m. that the motorist was deemed not intoxicated and released.

Payne reported that investigators believe the female pedestrian was leaving the Calvert County Detention Center and was attempting to cross Route 231 when she was struck in the westbound lane. According to Payne, “it appears she was an inmate at the detention center.”

Police have not released any identities of those involved. Route 231 remains closed from Prince Frederick Boulevard to German Chapel Road. Eastbound traffic is being diverted onto German Chapel Road while accident reconstruction continues.


At approximately 6:32 p.m., Calvert County Sheriff’s Department reported a road closure at Route 231/Stafford Road in Prince Frederick.

The road is closed due to an accident reconstruction.
