School Aid Injured Following St. Mary's County School Bus Crash On Budds Creek Road

MECHANICSVILLE, Md. – On April 9, 2024, at approximately 4:42 p.m., emergency personnel responded to a bus crash on northbound Budds Creek Road in the area of Aviation Yacht Club Road. 

Crews arrived on the scene and found a St. Mary’s County School bus #234 with four occupants off the roadway striking multiple trees. The school aid onboard was injured in the crash.

EMS evaluated the patient on the scene and they were transported to MedStar St. Mary’s Hospital for treatment of a knee injury. The three other occupants on the bus at the time of the accident declined medical attention. 

Just days before this incident, on April 4, 2024, a similar accident occurred in the area. Another St. Mary’s County School Bus ran off the roadway, hitting a utility pole on Mechanicsville Road.
