Charles County Public Schools are encouraging farmers producing fresh fruits and vegetables in the Southern Maryland region to attend a pre-bid meeting to learn about the opportunity to sell to Charles county schools and to have a chance to ask questions.

The meeting will be held on June 25th, 2015 from 5p.m. to 6:30p.m. at the Charles County Board of Education at 5980 Radio station Road, La Plata Maryland 20659.

Criteria:

  • Bidders will be able to pick from clusters of schools.
  • They may bid on 1 group, several groups or all schools
  • Delivery will be required, once a week.
  • Delivery will be required to be in covered truck. (refrigeration not required but preferred)
  • Preference given to local farmers. (local is defined as within 100 miles of La Plata Md.)
  • GAP certification not required, but preferred.
  • Payment will be once a month. Electronic deposit is preferred.
  • Bid package is on E Maryland Marketplace at https://emaryland.buyspeed.com/bso/login.jsp
  • A paper copy of the bid will be available after the pre-bid meeting. Contact the purchasing department for a copy.
  • Contract period is 1 year, with 4 possible 1 year extensions. This means that if the farm is not an awardee this year, the next opportunity could be 5 years down the road.
