September is National Preparedness Month and the St. Maryโ€™s County Department of Emergency Services and Technology encourages families, businesses, schools, communities and organizations to participate.ย  The annual campaign seeks to transform awareness into action by encouraging all citizens to take the necessary steps to ensure that their families, homes, workplaces and communities are prepared for disasters and emergencies of all kinds.

National Preparedness Month is sponsored by the Ready Campaign (www.ready.gov) in partnership with Citizen Corps (www.citizencorps.gov) and the Advertising Council.ย  The Ready Campaignโ€™s websites and toll free numbers (1-800-BE-READY and 1-888-SE-LISTO) provide free emergency preparedness information and resources available in English and Spanish.
