
WALDORF, Md. — Two people were injured Sunday night following a serious two-vehicle collision at the intersection of Lancaster Circle and Smallwood Drive West.
Emergency crews were dispatched at approximately 10:15 p.m. on March 1, 2026, after a caller reported a crash involving two vehicles, with one vehicle ending up in a ditch.
Upon arrival, first responders confirmed one occupant trapped with two injured. Crews extricated the occupant from the driver’s side of a vehicle by performing a door pop to gain access.
Fire and EMS personnel requested an additional Advanced Life Support unit due to the severity of injuries. A 21-year-old female was initially reported in serious condition and later became unresponsive following the collision. Emergency crews established an airway and provided advanced medical care at the scene. Firefighters established a landing zone for Maryland State Police Trooper 2 nearby at William B. Wade Elementary School.
She was transported by Trooper 2 helicopter to the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore with life-threatening injuries.
A second patient, a 20-year-old female, was transported by ambulance to UM Capital Region Medical Center in serious but stable condition.
Police are investigating the cause of the crash.
