UPDATE Tuesday, Jan. 2
Prince Frederick, MD – State investigators reported Tuesday, Jan. 2 that a fire that heavily damaged an abandoned house in Calvert County was deliberately set. The blaze occurred Saturday evening, Dec. 30 at a two-story, wood-frame, single-family home on North Solomons Island Road in Prince Frederick. The fire was discovered by Calvert County Sheriff’s Office deputies who were on patrol around 6:36 p.m.

Seventy-five firefighters were dispatched to the one-alarm blaze, with several trucks parked in the Walmart lot providing crews with water. No injuries were reported.
“Unknown suspect(s) ignited multiple fires within the abandoned structure,” a deputy fire marshal reported. Damage is estimated at $75,000. The fire marshal indicated in the report that the owner of the structure is unknown at this time.
No arrests have been made. Anyone who might have information that could aid investigators is asked to call the Maryland State Fire Marshal’s Southern Regional Office at 443-550-6834.

Prince Fredrick MD – Dec. 30, At 6:38pm TheBayNet.com received reports of a house fire in the 100 block of Solomons Island Road.
First responders went to the scene of a one-story single family with fire showing Firefighters subsequently brought the blaze under control and checked the site for extension. The Maryland State Fire Marshal’s Office also responded to the scene to conduct an investigation. At this time there have been no reports of injuries.
An official report on the incident is pending.
