Charlotte Hall, MD – A shed on a property located around the Charles County โ€“ St. Maryโ€™s County line was totally destroyed by fire Saturday afternoon, Dec. 10, state authorities reported. According to the Maryland State Fire Marshalโ€™s Office, the blaze on Vom Hainberg Place in Charlotte Hall was discovered by the property owner. Fifty volunteer firefighters were dispatched to the one-alarm fire, bringing the flames under control in 20 minutes. No injuries were reported.

โ€œThe fire was determined to be accidental, as a result of an electrical failure within an energized extension cord, igniting combustible materials inside the shed,โ€ a deputy fire marshal stated in the investigation report. โ€œThe shed and its contents were completely destroyed. A three-car detached garage and a 24-foot box truck adjacent to the shed also sustained damage due to the fire.โ€

Total damage from the fire is estimated to be $55,000.
