St. Maryโ€™s County Sheriff, Timothy K. Cameron held an open house on Saturday Oct. 18,ย  from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.ย  The event held in conjunction with the Maryland State Police included activities ranging from a McGruff the Crime Dog presentation, a K-9 demonstration to a tour of police facilities. There were also a demonstration by the Emergency Services Team and a tour of the detention center.

โ€œThe event was pretty well attended,โ€ said Cameron. โ€œI think the weather kept some of the people away, but the sun came out and we had a pretty good turn out.โ€

In addition to the various demonstrations and tours, there were multiple displays such as police cruisers, motor units, the crime lab, prisoner transport and other vehicles.

โ€œI enjoy watching the men and women of the department sharing and interacting with the public,โ€ said Cameron. โ€œIt is great when the public gets to interact directly with those who are out there every day solving crimes and protecting the people.โ€

Cameron went on to say that events such as the open house help the public better understand what policing is all about and to get to know the people out in the field every day.
