Making the challenging transition from a payroll specialist to a benefits coordinator for Calvert County Government workers has earned a special honor for Sherrie Myers. During their Tuesday, Sept. 11 meeting, the Calvert County Commissioners recognized Myers as the Employee of the Month for September.
“Sherrie worked hard to ensure a smooth transition for her successor,” stated Department of Finance and Budget Deputy Director Joan Thorp. “Her work ethic is fantastic and the quality of her work is excellent. She’s worked after hours and into the evening.”
As Thorp pointed out in the nomination form submitted to the Employee Recognition Committee, payroll is an important internal government function. Errors must be avoided and state and federal regulations must be followed. Myers was able to continue performing the payroll specialist responsibilities while at the same time becoming acclimated to her new position.
“It’s been a lot of fun,” said Myers after being applauded for receiving the honor.
Calvert County Government’s Employees of the Month each receive a certificate and a nominal check as part of the recognition.
