Waldorf’s Kenny Moreland takes Friday Show at Winchester, finishes 2nd to Spence in Winchester 200!!!
Hello Race Fans, I’m Buddy Long. And Welcome to this weeks edition of Short Track Showdown.
Winchester Speedway:
Waldorf, Maryland driver Kenny Moreland picked a great time to begin peaking, with the season ending big buck events every weekend. This past weekend, Moreland took the Friday night $2500 to win Super Late Model Show at Winchester Speedway, a prelude to the following nights Winchester 200 for Super Late Models. Moreland outdueled J.T. Spence and Jason Covert the entire event coming away with the Friday night win. Not much changed on Saturday, other than the winners share, as all three competitors were right back at it, this time Spence leading from start to finish in claiming the $8,000 winners share. Moreland came home second followed by Covert, Greg Satterlee, and Jared Miley, with D.J. Myers, Gary Stuhler, Kenny Pettyjohn, Dale Hollidge, and Tommy Armel completing the top 10.
Andy Anderson claimed the $2,000 to win Limited Late Model Feature, topping Justin Weaver, Jonathan DeHaven, Robbie Emory, and Kris Eaton.
Mike Franklin took the Pure Stock feature, while Kenny Thomas was the Enduro winner. Mark Pollard was tops in the U Cars.
Next up for Winchester will be the Small Car Nationals October 4 and 5 for Limited Late Models, Pure Stocks, 4 Cylinders, U Cars, and Enduros.
World of Outlaws: Lanigan takes abbreviated Down and Dirty 75 at Berlin!!!!
After wet weather saturated track conditions, forcing World of Outlaw Officials to condense the 2 day show into a 1 day, $15,000 to win event, the end result was still the same from the previous year with Union, Kentucky driver Darrell Lanigan taking his second straight Keyser Manufacturing Down and Dirty 75 presented by NAPA Saturday night at Berlin Raceway in Marne, Michigan. For the defending World of Outlaws Champion, it was his tenth win of the season.
This was the second year that officials at Berlin Raceway covered the asphalt oval with tons of clay for an Outlaw Show. Taking the lead from Shane Clanton on lap 33, Lanigan led the rest of way in dominating fashion. Clanton held on to second followed by Rick Eckert, series points leader Josh Richards, and Tim Fuller. The balance of the top ten were Matt Miller, Chub Frank, Morgan Bagley, Clint Smith, and Bub McCool.
The series will be off until October 10th when they head to Rolling Wheels Raceway in Elbridge, New York for a 50 lap $10,000 to win show, part of NAPA Auto Parts Super Dirt Week.
