Silver Spring Uber Driver Charged With Indecent Exposure After Allegedly Urinating Beside SUV At Lusby Intersection

LUSBY, Md. — A 59-year-old Silver Spring man is facing indecent exposure and disorderly conduct charges after a Calvert County sheriff’s deputy alleged he stopped at a Lusby intersection, stepped out of an SUV and urinated beside the vehicle in view of passing motorists while a passenger remained inside, according to court documents.

Simon Haileselassie Tehre, 59, of Silver Spring, was arrested in connection with the Aug. 21 incident and charged in Calvert County District Court with misdemeanor indecent exposure and disorderly conduct.

According to the statement of probable cause, a Calvert County Sheriff’s Office deputy was traveling at approximately 8:41 p.m. on H.G. Trueman Road near Town Square Drive in Lusby when he noticed a silver Toyota RAV4 stopped at a traffic light.

The SUV was in the left-turn lane for Town Square Drive with its hazard lights activated, according to the deputy.

As the deputy approached, he said he saw the driver, later identified as Tehre, step out of the SUV, pull down his pants and begin urinating on the driver’s-side rear tire.

The deputy alleged Tehre was urinating “in plain view of passersby and vehicles that were stopped at the stoplight.”

The deputy approached Tehre and instructed him to stop urinating on the vehicle, according to the probable cause statement.

Tehre allegedly explained that he was an Uber driver transporting a passenger and urgently needed to use a restroom. He told the deputy he was afraid he would urinate on himself and decided to relieve himself while stopped at the traffic light, court documents state.

The probable cause statement also notes that a passenger was seated in the back of Tehre’s SUV at the time.

The deputy wrote that several vehicles slowed down or had to alter their course during the interaction.

According to the report, the area of H.G. Trueman Road near Town Square Drive and Appeal Lane is considered a high-traffic area.

Tehre was subsequently placed in handcuffs and transported to the Calvert County Detention Center without further incident, according to the report.

Tehre was formally charged with indecent exposure and disorderly conduct.

Tehre was released on his own recognizance on Aug. 22, meaning no monetary bail was required for his release.

He is scheduled for a trial officer scheduling hearing on Oct. 21, 2026, in Calvert County District Court.
