The College of Southern Maryland’s Public Safety and Preparedness Department issued the following statement:
At approximately 1:45 p.m the occupants of the “A” building on the Leonardtown Campus were evacuated to the parking lot due to the sound of a small explosion. The fire department was called and responded quickly.
The fire department advised that a fire extinguisher located in the boiler room of the A building exploded.
There were no injuries and no damage as a result of the explosion and the fire department cleared the building for re-entry by occupants 2:05 p.m
