LEONARDTOWN, MD – The fall, winter and spring sports seasons for high school athletics are set by the Maryland Public Secondary Schools Athletic Association in accordance with COMAR 13A.06.03.03. The start date for each season during the 2017-2018 school year will not be affected by Governor Hogan’s Executive Order requiring schools to remain closed until after the Labor Day holiday in the fall. The Executive Order states, “The requirements of this Executive Order do not apply to the timing of sports seasons set forth in COMAR 13A.06.03.03.”
Thus, the first day of tryouts for 2017-2018 will be as follows:
FALL – August 9, 2017
WINTER – November 15, 2017
SPRING – March 1, 2018
