On January 12, 2010, a massive earthquake struck Haiti near the capital of Port-au-Prince, damaging not only buildings and roads, but also the foundation of the Western Hemisphere’s poorest nation.
In the weeks since this tragedy occurred, St. Mary’s County Public Schools’ students, staff, and community members have raised a total of $20,155.72 to aid the victims of the earthquake through the Maryland Kids Care Campaign and the 2010 Haiti Relief and Development Fund of the American Red Cross.
