St. Mary’s Hospital received the 2011 Lighthouse Award presented by the St. Mary’s County
Chamber of Commerce. The award recognizes a large business that demonstrates
growth, continued success, excellence in the recipient’s industry and for being
innovative in management, customer service and for having a solid commitment to the community.
“St. Mary’s Hospital represents all the qualities that the Chamber’s Lighthouse Award was designed to recognize,” said Chamber President Chris Longmore at the organization’s annual Business Award Luncheon held on May 11 for more than 300 guests. The Chamber hosts the awards event to recognize local businesses and their entrepreneurial spirit, growth and strong commitment to the St. Mary’s community at large. More than 300 guests attended this year’s luncheon prior to the Business Showcase at the Southern Maryland Higher Education Center.
Hospital President Christine Wray attributed the recognition to the dedication of everyone who works at the hospital and their commitment to patient safety and patient satisfaction. She said that the award was especially meaningful coming from the Chamber members because they are members of the community the hospital has served for nearly 100 years. “It is both a great privilege and a great responsibility to be entrusted with your care and to serve this community. We have much to live up to. In staying true to our MedStar Health vision, we will always strive to be the trusted leader in caring for people and advancing health,” Wray said.
