Social Media Calls Out Governors Over Chiefs-Raven Bet

“Bro, @Chiefs are in Missouri. Lol,”

“You should inform him that he needs to take some geography lessons, as do you apparently. Last I checked, aren’t you the gov of Kansas? Where the Chiefs don’t play because they are in MISSOURI?”

These are just a few of the many comments on social media following Governor Wes Moore’s bet with Kansas Governor Laura Kelly over the AFC Championship showdown on Sunday.

Governor Moore posted on social media Friday,

“Thrilled to welcome @GovLauraKelly’s @Chiefs to Baltimore this weekend. Although, Governor, I really think my @Ravens are going to take this one–want to make a bet? I’ll put up some crab pies from @crustbymack, whatcha got?”

Governor Kelly responded,

“You’re on @GovWesMoore with six straight AFC Championship appearances and @TaylorSwift13 on our side, I’m confident the @Chiefs will pull through. I’ll bet you @CreekStoneFarms’ premium black angus steaks that @PatrickMahomes & @TKelce bring home the Lamar Hunt trophy again.”

Kansas City is on Missouri’s western edge, located on the border of Kansas. Moore is not the first politician to make the mistake about where the Chiefs are located.

Donald Trump congratulated the Chiefs for their victory over the 49ers in Super Bowl LIV, cheering on the “Great State of Kansas” in 2020. His tweet was deleted just a few minutes later and he reposted a similar tweet congratulating the “Great State of Missouri.”

  1. Kind of interesting to note that Kansas’ governor is a democrat. Missouri’s is not. Surely the governor of Kansas knew that the bet wasn’t right. Geniuses.
