Southern Maryland Democrats will be gathering this weekend in Chesapeake Beach for their third bi-annual summit. The event, which starts Friday evening with a reception, includes an all-day event Saturday in which many of the stateโs elected officials will attend. It will be held at Chesapeake Beach Resort & Spa.
U.S. Senator Barbara Mikulski will be the Keynote Speaker at Saturdayโs luncheon. Also expected to attend are Rep. Steny Hoyer, Senate President Mike Miller, gubernatorial candidates Attorney General Doug Gansler and Del Heather Mizeur, lieutenant governor candidate Ken Ulman (on Anthony Brownโs ticket) and Comptroller Peter Franchot.
President of the Voter Empowerment Project Yvette Lewis will be the Saturday morning opening speaker. There also will be morning sessions on building Young Democrats, a look at Maryland Electorate and the proposed minimum wage increase.
Chesapeake Beach Mayor Bruce Wahl will give welcoming remarks before the lunch.
An afternoon session will be held entitled: โ2014: A New Landscape for Campaign Ads.โ
The event is sponsored by the central committees of the three Southern Maryland counties and the Southern Maryland Young Democrats.
