LEONARDTOWN, Md. — The Southern Maryland Volunteer Firefighter’s Association hosted it 2020 awards at the Leonardtown Volunteer Fire Department on Tuesday, January 5, 2021.

The awards are normally presented at the group’s convention, but that event was cancelled due to COVID-19.

SMVFA kept the ceremony safe and socially distant by presenting awards in increments and calling recipients into the LVFD’s meeting room one by one.

The award program included the Frank Cotufro Memorial Safety Award, Roland B. Duke Fire Prevention Award, Class Fire Prevention Awards, the new Dan Stevens Instructor of the Year Award, Life Saving Awards, and Unit Citations.
