The Southern Maryland Food Connection has launched a user-friendly Food Pantry Locator to connect residents with local resources across Calvert, Charles, and St. Mary’s counties.
Accessible at somdfoodconnection.org, the online tool allows users to enter their location and receive a comprehensive list of nearby food pantries, complete with addresses, hours of operation, and contact information.
The initiative aims to address the challenges of food insecurity by providing a centralized platform for those in need. The Southern Maryland Food Connection operates with the support of the Charles County Charitable Trust and End Hunger in Charles County. Local farms, including Dicot Farm and Bowling Green Farm, also contribute fresh produce and meat to help feed the community.
Participating organizations include LifeStyles of Maryland, Inc., New Hope Community Outreach Services, Inc., La Plata United Methodist Church, and Peace Lutheran Church. Together, these groups are working to ensure that every resident has access to nutritious food and the opportunity to thrive.
In addition to helping individuals locate food resources, the website offers opportunities for community members to get involved through volunteering or donating to support these vital services.
