THEFT FROM AUTOS: Between July 23 โ€“ July 24, unknown suspect(s) broke out a window of a car parked in the 5000 block of Damselfish Court in Waldorf and stole a wallet. The suspect(s) also entered two unlocked cars parked nearby and stole money. Officer C. Chamblee is investigating.

THEFTS FROM AUTOS: On July 23 at 12:20 p.m., a report was made that unknown suspect(s) entered two unlocked cars in the 3100 block of Guilford Drive in Waldorf and money was stolen from each vehicle. Pfc. S. Cook is investigating.
VANDALISM: On July 23 between 9:30 a.m. โ€“ 6:00 p.m., unknown suspect(s) spray painted โ€œLLAโ€ and โ€œHBโ€ on a concrete wall in the 3000 block of Heathcote Road in Waldorf. The suspect(s) also spray painted โ€œLong Live Aaron Aaron Worldโ€ on a sidewalk. Pfc. S. Cook is investigating.

BURGLARY: On July 22 between 12 a.m. โ€“ 2 a.m., an unknown suspect stole a dirt bike and other items from a shed in the 15000 block of Hughesville Manor Drive in Hughesville. A witness observed a lone male pushing the dirt bike alongside the roadway but did not call police because they did not know the bike had just been stolen.ย  Pfc. C. Gustafson is investigating.ย 

THEFT FROM AUTO: On July 18 between 7:15 p.m. โ€“ 8:30 p.m., unknown suspect(s) broke out a window of a car parked in the parking lot of the hiker biker trail on Middletown Road and stole a purse that was left on the floorboard of the vehicle. Sgt. M. Kaylor is investigating.

HOMEOWNERโ€™S DOG ALERTS WOMAN OF ATTEMPTED BURGLARY: On July 18 at 6 p.m., officers responded to a house in the 15000 block of Matthews Manor Road in Newburg for the report of a burglary in progress. Investigation showed the victim was entering her house when she heard her dog barking more than usual. As she entered, she noticed her dog looking through the sliding glass door, which faced the back yard. The woman opened the door to let the dog out, at which time she observed a male suspect in front of her detached shed with his back turned towards her. The man was holding a crow bar and trying to pry open a lock on the shed.ย  The womanโ€™s dog ran out of the door and jumped on the suspect, causing him to fall. The woman said it appeared her dog bit the suspect severely in the buttocks. The suspect was able to run to a wooded area where he escaped. The suspect is described as a white male in his 50โ€™s, 5โ€™7โ€, fair skin, medium build, stringy blond hair, wearing a ball cap, red t-shirt, and jeans. He may have bite marks. Anyone with information about the identity of the suspect is asked to call Pfc J. Campbell at (301) 932-2222.

Anne Arundel County:ย 

Theft of Bicycle 201700003087 – 1800 block of Virginia Av – 07/22 at 11 pm to 07/23 at 4:30 am:ย  A maroon and white Trek 10 speed bicycle was stolen.ย  The bicycle was secured to a tree when it was stolen.

Burglary – 201700003102 – 800 block of Monroe St – 07/25 at 11 pm:ย  An observant caller reported seeing a group of people inside a vacant apartment.ย  Officers arrived and located the group that had been inside the apartment.ย  One of the subjects, Sean Carney, 18, of Annapolis is the former tenant of the apartment.ย  He admitted to climbing into the apartment through an unlocked window and letting the other subjects inside.ย 

Carney claimed to have permission to access the apartment, but the property manager was contacted and confirmed that Carney was NOT allowed in the apartment.ย  Carney was arrested and charged with fourth-degree burglary.ย  He was released by the District Court Commissioner without bond.

201700003121-Theft-King George St/Randall St

Sometime between July 26, 2017 at approx 8pm and July 27, 2017 at approx 9am an unknown suspect removed a bicycle that was left unsecured on the sidewalk in the area of King George St and Randall St.

201700003133-Theft-1000 block Hyde Park Dr
On July 27, 2017 at approx 5:22 pm officers responded to the 1000 block of Hyde Park Dr in reference to a theft of a bicycle that just occurred. A short time later, officers observed the stolen bicycle being ridden by the suspect. The juvenile was arrested and charged with the theft. The bicycle was returned to the owner.

201700003134-Theft-100 block Hillsmere Dr
While investigating the bicycle theft from Hyde Park Dr, officers discovered the juvenile arrested in that incident also stole an item from the Dollar General Store. The juvenile was charged theft for this incident as well.

201700003136-Theft-700 block Second St
On July 27, 2017 officers responded to the 700 block Second St for a report of a theft.ย  The complainant advised that sometime between 3pm and 6:30pm, an unknown suspect removed a donation box from the location.

201700003139-Shooting-1300 blk Tyler Ave
On July 27, 2017 at 10:16 pm. officers were dispatched to the 1300 block of Tyler Ave for a shooting.ย  When officers arrived they located a male victim who had been shot.ย  The victim was flown to University of Maryland Shock Trauma for treatment.ย  Officers located a crime scene in the 1300 block of Forest Drive.
There is no further information at this time.ย ย  We will provide updates as needed.
