EDGEWATER, Md. – On February 19, 2019 at approximately 6:15 p.m., officers responded to Central Avenue East at Loch Haven Road in Edgewater for a single vehicle crash.
A Nissan Maxima was traveling eastbound on Central Avenue approaching Loch Haven Road. The driver failed to negotiate a curve and lost control. The vehicle crossed into the opposite lane, left the roadway and struck a tree. The passenger, a 22-year-old woman was flown by Maryland State Police helicopter to a local trauma center with life threatening injuries. The driver was uninjured.
The preliminary cause of the crash appears to be the driver failing to remain in a single lane. Speed and alcohol appear to have contributed to this crash. The Traffic Safety Section is handing the investigation and the case will be reviewed by the States Attorney.
