DUNKIRK, Md. — Two Calvert County Scout units will lead the local Wreaths Across America observance on Saturday, Dec. 13, 2025, at Southern Memorial Gardens, honoring fallen service members with remembrance wreaths.
Troop 903 and Cub Scout Pack 1792 will take part in a noon ceremony at the cemetery, 10155 Ward Road, Dunkirk, MD 20754, followed by wreath placement. The site lists 404 veteran graves with a coverage goal of 404 and 328 wreaths sponsored to date.
Organizers highlight the program’s mission: “REMEMBER the Fallen. . . HONOR those who Serve. . . TEACH our children the value of Freedom.”
Pack 1792 notes, “Every $17 wreath sponsorship will place a wreath on a Veteran’s Headstone this December AND the pack will earn $5 to use for activities!” Supporters seeking to credit a specific Scout are directed to select the member’s name before sponsoring.
Volunteers are asked to register in advance to receive updates and to follow on-site guidance during placement. The event page asks participants to be mindful during distribution — “Please help ensure that all participants get the opportunity to place a wreath.” Parking is available — “There is plenty of parking at this cemetery, so feel free to park in any available spot.”
The ceremony begins at 12 p.m., with wreath placement immediately afterward. Additional details and sponsorships are available here.
