LEONARDTOWN, Md. – The St. Clement’s Island Museum water taxi, a brand new and larger vessel, is now providing transportation between the museum site in Colton’s Point and St. Clement’s Island State Park on the Potomac River. While service has begun, the vessel is currently operating under temporary restrictions, including a limited passenger capacity, and visitors are strongly encouraged to call ahead to confirm availability before traveling.

Tickets are $7 per person for visitors of all ages and include round-trip transportation to and from the island. The first cruise departs from the mainland at 10 a.m., and the final cruise departs from the mainland at 2 p.m. The final return trip from the island to the mainland departs at 3 p.m. Blackistone Lighthouse on the island will be open on select days; call for details.

Tickets can be purchased at the Annex Building next to the parking lot while the new St. Clement’s Island Museum building is being constructed nearby. Please note that there will be no water taxi operations on June 4, 11, 12, 20, and 21.

Visitors are strongly encouraged to call (301) 769-2222 before visiting to confirm water taxi operations, current passenger capacity limitations, and seat availability. Temporary operating restrictions remain in effect, and weather or other extenuating circumstances may result in schedule changes or cancellations.

“We are very excited to begin offering cruises on our new vessel,” said Karen Stone, Manager of the St. Mary’s County Museum Division. “While temporary operating restrictions remain in place, this is an important milestone. We appreciate the public’s patience and support as we continue working through the final stages of bringing the vessel fully into operation.”
