St. Mary’s City, MD – February 3, 2020 – St. Mary’s College alumnus Ethan Elliott, who was a physics major in the class of 2006, received a NASA Early Career Public Achievement Medal on October 29, 2019, from NASAโ€™s Jet Propulsion Laboratory.ย  NASA awards the medal for โ€œunusual and significant performance during the first 10 years of an individualโ€™s early career. The contribution is significant in that, for an employee who is at such an early phase of career, their contribution has substantially improved the discipline area.โ€

Elliott was cited โ€œfor early career achievement in leading the Cold Atom Lab engineering model testbed and key contributions to generating the first Bose-Einstein Condensate in Earth orbit.โ€ย 

He was also recently featured throughout a video produced by Seeker (Discovery Channel’s digital media channel), โ€œNASA Engineered a Box to Create the Fifth State of Matter in Spaceโ€ which has over one million views.
