(St. Maryโs City, MD) March 29, 2011โ St. .Maryโs College of Maryland will pilot a late-night food venue with pub on campus, beginning March 31. The nightspot will be open Thursdays through Sundays on a trial basis for the rest of the spring semester.
Bon Appรฉtit, the collegeโs food service contractor, will provide the food and beverages for the venue, which will be located in the Lewis Quadrangle Commons. Director of Food Operations David Sansotta said that food offerings will include a burrito and nacho bar with beef, chicken, and vegetarian fixings; cheese and pepperoni personal pizzas; and subs. Drinks will include a selection of beer, wine, sodas, and coffee. Serving hours will be from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. for food and alcohol and 10 p.m. to 2 a.m. for food only.
The decision to try an on-campus food venue with pub was made after hearing from students the desire for a late-night option close to where they live and study. Joanne Goldwater, associate dean of students/director of residence life, spoke on behalf of the task force that has worked to develop the pilot project: โHaving a late-night food operation along with a limited pub will provide a good venue on campus to build community, teach and model socially responsible behavior, and increase student satisfaction.โ
