St. Mary’s County Public Schools launched its redesigned website at its Board of Education Meeting of October 24, 2005. The development of the user-friendly site at WWW.SMCPS.ORG has been a priority of Superintendent of Schools, Dr. Michael J. Martirano, since taking the helm of the school system in July.
“We realize how important our website has become in communicating with our community and the general public,” said Dr. Martirano. “The new site represents our continuous efforts to provide the most current and accurate information about St. Mary’s County Public Schools.”
One of the most significant changes to the site, aside from its new appearance, is how the information is arranged and the ease at which visitors can navigate the site. The redesigned website continues to support the content visitors expect, including the school system status, school district boundaries and bus route information, online job applications, press releases, breaking news and news briefs at the SMCPS News link, and links to individual schools.
The school system’s primary goal was to make it easier for visitors, especially parents, students, staff, and community members, to find what they want quickly and easily. The previous website was more than nine years old.
