LEONARDTOWN, Md. – The St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office handled 1286 Calls for service, including 13 Emergency Petitions from January 29, 2024, to February 4, 2024.

Calls for service include requests for police assistance originating from the public as well as self-initiated events made by deputy sheriffs.

The Emergency Petition statute in Maryland enables the prompt evaluation of individuals experiencing a mental health crisis having the potential to harm themselves or others to be taken to an emergency facility to assess the need for immediate treatment.

2/02/24 – Jawaan Montell Carroll, 39, of Great Mills, MD, by Deputy Aaron Ocasio-Rivera, for CDS: Possession Not Marijuana.

2/02/24 – Benjamin Jamal Washington, 23, of Hyattsville, MD, by DFC Zachary Jerew, for Assault Second Degree on Division of Corrections Employee.

  1. All of the trash seems to be migrating from pg county. St Mary’s county will soon be like Waldorf… Tired of hearing that they’re a product of their environment. When the truth is their environment is a product of them. Not a coincidence that predominantly minority areas are always riddled with crime… Y’all got to do better. I said what I said. You don’t agree, prove me wrong…

  2. There’s levels to the the criminality in that county. Here’s a fun fact: One of the largest drug traffickers in the region once held a “high” ranking position for many years in St Mary’s Co. Never investigated Never Charged. The rabbit hole goes deeper than the avg. person can imagine.
