Junior and Captain Nick LaGuerre will attend the Final Four in Texas next weekend. Even through St. Mary’s did not make it into the NCAA Tournament this year LaGuerre will be on-site sharing his passion for volunteerism by teaching Special Olympics Texas athletes the fundamentals of basketball.
He will be joined by college basketball and NBA legend Grant Hill, along with the other nine members of the Allstate Good Works team. Together they will coach a group of Special Olympics Texas athletes through basketball skills and activities.
In its second year, the Allstate NABC Good Works Team is composed of 10 college basketball players whose community service activities and selfless acts stand out nationwide.
The award recipients were selected from nominations submitted by athletic departments on behalf of their teams by a special voting panel of former student-athletes and coaches, members of the media and Hill.
Before the clinic, Allstate, an official corporate partner of the NCAA, will make a $10,000 donation to Special Olympics Texas to further the organization’s mission.
