LEONARDTOWN, Md. — St. Mary’s Ryken High School is inviting drivers to show their Knight pride on the road with a new specialty Maryland license plate featuring the school’s name and Xaverian heritage.
The plates cost $30 each, to be paid by check to the Motor Vehicle Administration, according to school officials. The sample design includes the letters “XS,” denoting “Xaverian School,” as part of the plate configuration.
To order, applicants must complete the St. Mary’s Ryken license plate application and submit it with the $30 check to Betsy Haley at the school. Forms can be dropped off in person or mailed to St. Mary’s Ryken, 22600 Camp Calvert Road, Leonardtown, MD 20650, Attn: Betsy Haley.
The Motor Vehicle Administration will begin producing the plates once 25 applications have been collected. After processing, the new tags will be mailed directly to vehicle owners by the MVA.
School officials noted that obtaining the specialty plate does not alter a vehicle’s existing registration period or renewal fees. Drivers will continue renewing their registrations with the MVA on their usual one- or two-year schedule.
Questions about the program may be directed to a designated representative at the Maryland Department of Transportation’s Motor Vehicle Administration.
