Stabbing at school reported

LEXINGTON PARK, Md. — On Sept. 21 at 11 a.m., a stabbing was reported at Spring Ridge Middle School. Reports indicate a 13-year-old male was stabbed in the hand. The assailant is still inside the school. 

UPDATE: One patient has been transported to Medstar St. Mary’s Hospital for non life threatening injuries.

UPDATE From the St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office:

St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office deputies are currently on the scene at Spring Ridge Middle School investigating a minor assault. The preliminary investigation has revealed a juvenile student stabbed another student on the hand with scissors causing minor lacerations. The victim was transported to MedStar St. Mary’s Hospital for treatment and deputies are on the scene with the juvenile suspect. The incident is controlled, and no additional safety concerns exist.

St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office School Resource Officers are continuing the investigation.
