Yoga on paddleboards is often referred to as SUP Yoga for Stand Up Paddle Yoga. This form of yoga provides an experience to enjoy the yoga in the great outdoors. On another level it challenges your perception and balance.

Classes are now being offered with Paddle or Pedal at both the Chesapeake Beach and Quiet Waters locations. Each session intended to be all inclusive experience to encourage the participation of the group, therefore, each class may be a bit different from the next. You can participate with no yoga experience or oodles of it, some experience on the board or a newcomer.

You will be honored for where you are at on your path and inspired to grow forward. Each session will encourage you to maintain awareness to your breath and internal sensations while paying attention to your surroundings. Really, it offers an interesting parallel to life. We have our own energetic force that we must balance within the waves of society influence including its demands. At the same time, the surroundings are beautiful and inspiring.

On the boards we can feel the breeze, see the blue skies and ideally hear the birds sing. While the experience of doing yoga on paddleboards is serine, it asks us to move beyond our comfort zones and have fun. Performing postures on the boards we challenge what we what you believe we are capable of within the surroundings; like the ripple of the waves, the other boards near us and the shoreline in the distance. We may try a pose that challenges our balance and fly or fall into the water. It has boundaries and at the same time is boundless. Unlike, other forms of fitness or water sports; there is no goal or end result to achieve.

SUP yoga offers an opportunity to remain present and enjoy the journey. Classes will continue the following summer season. Please contact cristalrae@massagetherapy.com for details or visit cristalraetoribio.massagetherapy.com
