STEAM Exhibit Design Competition Submissions Sought

LEXINGTON PARK, Md. – Pure Play Every Day, Inc. invites Southern Maryland middle and high school students to submit science, technology, engineering, arts, and math (STEAM) design concepts to be judged with the winning concepts potentially constructed as exhibits for use in the nonprofit’s planned children’s museum. STEAM design concepts can be submitted online at www.pureplayeveryday/contest March 3 through March 6. There is no cost to participate in Pure Play’s student design competition.

“What if young learners had a space to explore STEAM concepts in an interactive way—designed by students just a little older than them? Pure Play Every Day is making that vision a reality,” stated Patty Stine, Executive Director.

The students’ designs will be displayed and the winners announced during Pure Play’s upcoming STEAM Room Catalyst Event & Awards Ceremony taking place March 30th at 2 PM at the Patuxent Naval Air Museum in Lexington Park. Each winner will receive a $100 scholarship toward their continued education. This event is free and open to the public.

A panel of STEAM professionals will judge the students’ design concepts. The panel includes Christopher Kircher, subject-matter expert and architect, Shannon Rowland, former math teacher and robotics team mentor in St. Mary’s County, and James Thompson, Deputy Public Works Officer for Naval Facilities Engineering Systems Command.

Pure Play Every Day is a Southern Maryland-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to connecting people through play. By creating hands-on, purposeful learning experiences, the organization fosters curiosity, collaboration, and creativity for learners of all ages. Its mission is to inspire future STEAM leaders while promoting environmental sustainability using recycled and repurposed materials—because play isn’t just fun, it’s essential.
