Lexington Park, MD – The Patuxent Partnership and St. Mary’s County Public Schools are partnering to offer Summer Aerospace Camp for elementary and secondary students. The camp sessions will be held in July at the Dr. James A. Forrest Career and Technology Center.

Summer Aerospace Camp provides students grades 2-11 opportunities to explore topics related to aeronautics and space science through hands-on learning.

Elementary students may choose one of two one-week sessions. Students will explore topics such as aeronautics, earth science, engineering, rocketry, space citizenship, and space science through classroom activities. Sessions will run July 16–19, 2018, OR July 23–26, 2018, from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. It is open to students entering grades 2–6.

Secondary students can participate in a two-week program, where students will participate in activities related to advanced aeronautics and quadcopters. Subject matter experts have been invited to work with students as they explore the implications of these topics for law enforcement, national security, and space exploration. The camp will run Monday through Thursday, July 16–26, 2018, from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Students entering grades 7-11 may register.

In addition, The Patuxent Partnership and SMCPS, with support from the Office of Naval Research, are offering Cyber Camp for students entering grades 7-9 who are interested in hands-on activities related to computer science and cyber security, such as programming, forensics, and cryptography.
