Maryland State Police in La Plata continue to investigate a serious crash that left one woman dead.
Rescue crews responded to Southbound Route 5 at Billingsley Road in Hughesville on Sunday, March 7 around 2:42 p.m.
Investigation revealed a white Dodge Ram and a tan Toyota Corolla had collided.
The Driver of the Dodge ram was being driven by John Andrew Lewis, 56 of Hughesville, he was the sole occupant of that vehicle. In the Toyota, there was a driver and two passengers to include, (driver) Thomas Lawrence Dehetre, 61 of Waldorf, the front passenger Susan May Dehetre, 61 of Waldorf, and 81-year-old Audrey Irene Adams, who was a rear passenger.
All three patients in the Toyota were transported to Civista Medical Center for their injuries. Mr. Lewis was not injured in the crash.
Thomas and Susan Dehetre were treated and released. Adams later succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced deceased at 3:34 p.m.
The collision is still under investigation to determine the cause.
