SEVERN, Md. — Anne Arundel County Police arrested an 18-year-old Severn man on multiple firearm-related charges following a reported robbery in the 1100 block of Reece Road late Friday afternoon.
Officers responded to the scene around 4:20 p.m. on January 17, 2025, after receiving a report of an armed suspect. Upon arrival, police located a male matching the description provided by dispatch. As officers approached, the suspect discarded a loaded 9mm Smith & Wesson handgun into nearby brush, which was later recovered by police.
The suspect, identified as Ny’Shawn Benjamin Morris, was determined to be prohibited from possessing firearms. He was taken into custody without incident. While officers recovered the weapon, they were unable to locate the reported robbery victim.
Morris has been charged with multiple offenses, including illegal possession of a regulated firearm, possession of a firearm by a minor, possession of a stolen firearm, illegal possession of ammunition, carrying a handgun, and carrying a loaded handgun.
Following his initial court appearance on January 18, Morris was ordered to be held without bond.
