Prince Frederick, MD — A suspect in a theft proved to be extremely helpful to Calvert County deputies investigating the case. He drove down to the station bringing the stolen goods with him.ย
On September 2, a deputy conducted a traffic stop at Chips Transport in Huntingtown. The occupants were asked to step out of the vehicle and a search was conducted which resulted in rubber gloves, black face masks, two BB guns, a head lamp and an Echo leaf blower.
The occupants advised all of that was for work, but could not provide an employerโs name.
One of the occupants, later identified as Tyler Albert Richardson,18, was uncooperative and refused to give any of his information. Richardson was placed under arrest and transported to the Calvert County Detention Center where he was charged with Obstructing and Hindering.
Earlier that night a complainant called the Sheriffโs Office to report a burglary. The complainant advised someone broke into his shed and stole 4 extension cords, a tool bag with multiple tools inside, a table saw, a drill, a sawzall and a 5 gallon gas can.
A detective called the driver of the vehicle from the traffic stop, Michael Lewis Tipton, 19, and asked him to come to the Sheriffโs Office so he could speak with him.
Tipton showed up in the same truck from the traffic stop with all of the above listed items, as well as the Echo leaf blower, in plain view in the bed of the truck. Tipton was placed under arrest and transported to the Calvert County Detention Center. Tipton and Richardson were both charged with 2nd Degree Burglary, 3 rd Degree Burglary, 4th Degree Burglary, Theft Under $1,500, Possession of Burglary Tools and Destruction of Property.
