On Dec. 21, at 8:20 a.m., deputies responded to the Three Oaks Men’s Shelter in Lexington Park for the report of an assault.
Investigation revealed Brian D. Via, 39 of Lexington Park, struck several other occupants of the shelter by hand over an alleged theft. One victim received several lacerations to his face and head and another victim had his clothes torn by Via.
Via was confronted by deputies at which time Via spat on Dfc. Cathcart. Via was placed under arrest, at which time Via began fighting with the deputies. Via was subsequently subdued, charged with four counts of second-degree assault, resisting arrest and incarcerated in the Detention Center pending an appearance before the District Court Commissioner.
