Hollywood, MD— On May 27, Maryland State Police Tfc. Roszell responded to Medstar St. Mary’s Hospital on Point Lookout Road in Leonardtown to begin the investigation of a possible assault that allegedly occurred in Hollywood.

Roszell contacted the victim, who had been transported to the hospitalย with a laceration to her head. When the victim was asked what happened, Roszell learned, “she doesn’t want to talk about what happened because it would start more problems,” according to charging documents.ย

However, after some time, the victim advised that the defendantย hit the victim in the head with a bat. The victim was reluctantย to give the name of the person who hit her, but when told we (MSP) were going to investigateย what happened the victim stated the defendant’sย name is Amanda R. Bailey, 34, of Hollywood.ย

The victim also advised, “Bailey came in and started yelling at her. The victim then went to use the bathroom. When the victim returned, Bailey had a bat in her hand,” according to charging documents.ย

Bailey thoughtย the victimย was calling the policeย on her boyfriend because he has a warrant. Bailey then stated, “You wanna be a cop-calling b****,” according to charging documents. Bailey then hit the victim in the back with the bat.ย

The victimย stated she was facing away from Bailey, and then again was hit a second time in the head causingย lacerationsย to the top of her head. Paramedics were called to the home. The victimย first told them that she had fallen down the stairs. Later the victimย told the paramedics that she was hit with a bat.ย

Roszell responded to Allston Lane in Hollywood where the incident took place and made contact with Baliey. Bailey was detained and read her Miranda rights. Bailey declined to speak to the officer.

Roszell observed the scene and noticed blood on the back porch where the victimย advised she was standingย during the incident. According to charging documents, “there was also a blood trail outside of the basement door and upstairs from where the victim had gone to her room.”ย

Bailey was arrested and transported to the St. Mary’s County Detention Center, where she was charged with first-degree assault and second-degree assault. Bailey has a tentativeย preliminary hearing scheduled for June 28 in District Court.ย

Bailey faces a maximumย jail sentence 35 years and/or a maximum fine of $2,500.ย
