UPDATE – Leonardtown Man Arrested, Charged With Arson At Super 8 Motel
CALIFORNIA, Md. – On June 3, 2024, at approximately 8:16 p.m., fire and rescue personnel responded to a fire at the Super 8 Motel on the 22000 block of Three Notch Road, at the cross street of Gunston Drive, in California, Maryland.
Upon arrival, police on the scene witnessed two individuals jumping from a window of the building. Three Notch Road was promptly shut down to accommodate fire equipment and ensure the safety of all responders and civilians.
The building is currently being evaluated for safety and structural integrity. The fire has been extinguished, and the Fire Marshal has been notified. Two subjects, identified as the occupants of the room where the fire originated, are now in police custody.
Approximately 50 people had to evacuate the premises and will be displaced. Two individuals were transported to MedStar St. Mary’s Hospital for fire-related injuries.
