It was an unseasonably warm beginning to October as people gathered this weekend to enjoy Sotterleyโs annual WineFest.
On the lawns of the mansion several tents offered visitors the opportunity to taste and purchase a variety of Maryland wines. Many of them had months of backlogged orders by the end of Saturday.

The afternoon of wine-tasting was accompanied with live music from the banks of the estate, storytelling for children at a former slave cabin in the woods, and picnicking on the lawn.ย

The wines available ranged from an interesting Port of Manchester by Cygnus โ a wine with a port-like taste but without the alcohol level โ to a Mango white wine produced by Solomons Island Winery.
The festival also included several craft vendors, and attracted an artist who took advantage of the pleasant weather to do some outdoor painting, and a couple in period dress.
