The Maryland Technology Development Corp. (TEDCO) Board of Directors announced on February 26, 2007 that Renée M. Winsky has been appointed Executive Director of the organization. The appointment is effective immediately.
“Renée is a seasoned veteran of the technology community whose experience and professionalism is invaluable to TEDCO,” said Michael E. Busch, Speaker of the Maryland House of Delegates. “She will continue to help make Maryland the prime location for business entrepreneurs and technology startups.”
“I am thrilled that TEDCO’s board of directors has chosen Renée as executive director from among a competitive field of qualified candidates,” said David W. Edgerley, secretary of the Maryland Department of Business and Economic Development. “She has played a key role in guiding TEDCO from one success to another during the years. While holding senior leadership positions with the organization, Entrepreneur Magazine named TEDCO as the most active seed fund investor in the nation for three consecutive years. She will continue to further establish Maryland as the nation’s leader of technology innovation and commercialization.”
Frank Adams, chairman of TEDCO’s Board of Directors, and managing general partner and founder of Grotech Capital Group said, “Since Renée joined TEDCO in 2000, she has been a major force in helping TEDCO to continue growing its position as Maryland’s leading source of funding for seed capital and entrepreneurial business. First as deputy executive director and most recently as interim executive director, she has helped expand the stature of TEDCO, enhance its programs and embrace its role as the administrator of the Maryland Stem Cell Research Fund.”
Winsky has more than 22 years of progressively responsible experience in the management of nonprofit, quasi-government and government entities. She serves on the Mid-Atlantic Institute for Space and Technology Board of Directors, the City of Bowie Ethics Commission, and as a member of the Leadership Maryland Class of 2005 serves on the organizations Program Committee.
She is an active member of the Maryland Economic Development Association (MEDA), International Economic Development Council (IEDC), Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM), National Business Incubation Association (NBIA), and American Society of Association Executives. She played a key role in winning the bid for Maryland to host the 2007 State Science and Technology Institute (SSTI) annual conference coming to Baltimore this October.
