SOLOMONS, Md. — A 17-year-old boy was airlifted to a trauma center Sunday night after a large fight on the Solomons Island Boardwalk following the fireworks show.

The incident was reported at approximately 9:25 p.m. on July 5, 2026, on the Solomons Island Boardwalk near the gazebo.

Dispatch information indicated multiple callers reported a large fight involving juveniles on the boardwalk with approximately 20 people involved.

One juvenile reportedly drew a knife, and people began scattering along the boardwalk. Another caller later reported someone had been stabbed near the pier.

Deputies from the Calvert County Sheriff’s Office and emergency medical personnel responded to the area. Crews located a 17-year-old male suffering from multiple stab wounds, including reported wounds to the stomach.

Firefighters and EMS requested a medevac helicopter due to the teen’s injuries. Maryland State Police Aviation Command Trooper 7 landed at the Solomons Volunteer Fire Department and transported the teen to an area trauma center with serious injuries.

Police reportedly detained one suspect a short time later.

The Calvert County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the assault.
