Waldorf, MD – Two teenage males are being charged as adults following the assault of another teen at Thomas Stone High School. According to the Charles County Sheriff’s Office, the assault occurred Wednesday, March 11.

The sheriff’s office reported that Cpl.ย  J. Cooney, a school resource officer,ย  was made aware of the assault and initiated an investigation which revealed one suspect assaulted the victim, breaking his jaw, while another suspect prevented others from assisting the victim.

Charles County Sheriff’s Office Spokeswoman Diane Richardson identified the suspects as Deandra Sherman Bush, 17 of Waldorf; and Maurike Emone Brown, 16 of Brandywine.

Richardson told The Bay Net the incident remains under investigation, however, authorities do not believe the attack, which occurred in a parking lot, was random.

Bush and Brown were each charged as adults with first and second-degree assault.

Charles County Public Schools Spokewoman Katie O’Malley-Simpson confirmed that both Bush and Brown are students within the county’s system.
