A draft St. Mary’s County 2012 Land Preservation, Parks& Recreation Plan was unveiled Tuesday to the county commissioners. The plan with few minor revisions will go to the state for comment and then the planning commission will review it before the county commissioners finalize it by July 1 of next year.

The plan includes a number of priorities for the next ten years. They are listed in the plan in no order of priority, as:
·         Large waterfront park in the 5th or 6th EDs (300 acres)
·         Two small water access parks along Patuxent River
·         Wicomico Shores boat ramp, additional parking Three Notch Trail phases 4B, 6 & 7
·         New Leonardtown Park on former Hayden Farm property
·         New Central County Park on the former Beavan property
·         Myrtle Point Park development
·         Chaptico Park – Phases 2 & 3
·         Chancellors Run Park, expand athletic facilities
·         Lancaster Park: Civil War Memorial and interpretive center; multi-purpose fields
·         Gymnastics Center – County-owned
