LEXINGTON PARK, Md. — Bikini Bottom is coming to Southern Maryland this summer as The Newtowne Players prepare to raise the curtain on “The SpongeBob Musical,” a family-friendly production that promises colorful characters, high-energy performances and an unforgettable soundtrack.

Running July 10 through Aug. 2 at the Three Notch Theatre in Lexington Park, the musical transforms the beloved Nickelodeon television series into a Broadway-style production filled with humor, heart and an uplifting message about friendship, courage and community.

A Broadway Hit Comes To Lexington Park

Based on the iconic animated series created by Stephen Hillenburg, “The SpongeBob Musical” follows SpongeBob SquarePants and his friends after they discover that a volcano threatens to destroy Bikini Bottom. As fear spreads throughout the community, SpongeBob, Patrick and Sandy set out on an unlikely mission to save their underwater home, proving that optimism and teamwork can make the impossible possible.

Unlike many traditional musicals, the production features songs written by an impressive lineup of internationally recognized artists, including Steven Tyler and Joe Perry of Aerosmith, Sara Bareilles, Cyndi Lauper, John Legend, Panic! At the Disco, David Bowie, They Might Be Giants and many more.
