On Nov. 11 at approximately 5:52 p.m., the Calvert County Sheriff’s Office Patrol Bureau responded to the scene of a motor vehicle accident at the intersection of North Prince Frederick Boulevard and Allnut Court in Prince Frederick. The accident involved a sheriff’s office vehicle.
The vehicles involved were a 2013 Toyota Corolla, which had heavy damage to its left side; and a 2014 Chevrolet Tahoe—an unmarked sheriff’s office vehicle—with front end damage.
Preliminary investigation revealed the Chevy Tahoe, operated by Dfc. Roscoe T. Kreps III, was traveling southbound on North Prince Frederick Boulevard approaching Allnutt Court. The Toyota was driven by Viral D. Patel, 30 of Prince Frederick, and entered North Prince Frederick Boulevard from Allnutt Court in an attempt to continue northbound. Police said the Corolla was struck by the Tahoe.
Patel sustained serious injuries and was transported to Calvert Memorial Hospital (CMH). A front seat passenger in the Corolla—identified as Jitewdra Mehta, 65 of Prince Frederick—was initially taken to CMH in critical and unstable condition, then flown to MedStar Washington Hospital Center. The sheriff’s office reported Mehta’s condition has since been upgraded to stable.
Kreps was transported to CMH, treated for minor injuries and released.
A full investigation of the accident is being conducted by the Sheriff’s Office Crash Reconstruction Team. Anyone who may have witnessed the crash or has information that may aid in the investigation is asked to contact Sgt. Vladimir Bortchevsky at http://bortchvi@co.cal.md.us or 410-535-2800.
