
LATHAM, N.Y. – First-year Ty Tindal (Philadelphia, Pa./Martin Saints Classical) was selected as the United East Conference Men’s Field Athlete of the Week as announced by the conference office Tuesday morning. This is Tindal’s first-ever conference honor.
Tindal paced the St. Mary’s College of Maryland men’s indoor track & field team at the Frank Colden Invitational hosted by Ursinus College on February 3, setting three school records and placing second in the pentathlon.
He scored a school record 2935 points in the pentathlon, finishing 45 points behind the first-place finisher, Brandon Kiefer of Stevens Institute of Technology. Tindal won two of the five events as he captured the 60m hurdles with a school record time of 8.89 and claimed top honors in the long jump with a school record distance of 6.48m.
Tindal took fifth in the high jump with a height of 1.61m while coming in seventh in the 1000m with a time of 3:05.26. He earned a 10th-place finish in the shot put with a distance of 8.33m.
Following this weekend’s performance, he now ranks 12th in the Mid-Atlantic region in the long jump (6.48m) and holds a regional ranking of 20th in the 60m hurdles (8.89). Tindal ranks second in the 60m hurdles among his conference peers while owning the fourth-best long jump distance. He is also eighth in the league in the high jump with his height of 1.61m.
St. Mary’s College will be idle until Saturday, February 17, when the Seahawks travel to Selinsgrove, Pa., to compete in the Susquehanna University Tune-Up.
